Reflections: Hope in Hopeless Times

The words hope in hopeless times appear in white on a background of a mountain under a sunset

Have you ever felt like you were climbing mountain after mountain in the path of life? Have you ever faced a situation that seemingly had no positive solution? Have you ever reached the end of the line and lost all hope?

I want to tell you today that if you are there now please do not give up, the fact that you are breathing means that you still have hope. When you reach out to God miracles can happen.

I was recently reading through the book of 1 Kings in the Bible and was reminded of what is possible when you trust in God. I especially love chapters 17 of the book of 1 Kings.

In 1 Kings 17 we see an example of someone who has lost all hope but decided to trust God one more time. There was a drought in the land and a widow had nothing left except for a small amount of oil and some sort of flour that was only enough for one more meal for her and her son and then they would die. A prophet of God came and asked her for some food. She decided to trust God and help the man. God gave her way more than she could have expected as the oil and flour never finished and she and her son were fed until the drought was over. On another occasion her son died but God brought him back to life. You can listen to the chapter below.

I hope that this powerful example of what God can do will encourage you today. This teaches me to trust God and to put God first in my life. God is able to provide a solution to whatever you are facing in this life. Please keep going and take it one day at a time because there is more life to live.
