Would you set out to an unfamiliar country with your eyes completely covered? Many people have the misconception that a person who is blind can not do many things on their own and they probably would never think of a blind person traveling across the world on their own.
I love this series by Mona Minkara because she shows society what a person who is blind is capable of doing. Now of course there are some limitations and there are some moments where seeking assistance is inevitable, but whether you are blind or sighted out there I know you have found yourself in a situation where you needed assistance at some point in life.
In this episode Mona makes her way to Peru and explores Cusco, you can watch the episode below and please consider subscribing to the Planes, Trains, and Canes channel because you will learn so many things.
First I just want to say that I do appreciate that LATAM airlines does care about accessibility for the most part although they have some improvements to do.
I love how Mona is not afraid to just step out there in an unfamiliar airport and how she is willing to get lost in the process. She does have an assistant who also films for her but she really does not rely on her very often unless it is necessary.
The stone building seems very interesting. I would love to visit it one day and I will make a note in my mind to bring altitude medication.
I love wool as I enjoy knitting so it was cool to get some insight into the various types of wool.
These episodes really do encourage me to want to get out there and explore the world. A person does not need eyesight to enjoy things.
