There will be times in life for all of us when we will face hard times. When we face hard times it is important to have the right mindset and perspective. I am writing this to myself first as I really need this reminder right now and I hope it will encourage you all as well.
The quote shown in the photo above by pastor David Wilkerson that says “brokenness is the doorway to blessing” caught my attention. This made me begin to reflect on what is the purpose of being broken and going through hard times? We may ask why does God allow us to face hard times?
This quote reminded me that brokenness truly is what leads to a blessing from God. When we face hard times we become more humble and hopefully realize that we must rely on God more each day.
When we are broken and our dreams shatter we need to stop and reflect on the good things that we already have that God has freely given us.
I believe that it is only when we are broken that we can truly come to experience the true joy that comes from God because we learn not to rely on our own strength and to instead rely on God. Those who are facing hard times are more likely to look to God and receive the gift of salvation by trusting in Jesus Christ for forgiveness of sins.
The opening of the book of James came to my mind about how I should be joyful when I faze hard times because it is actually producing good things in me.
“2 My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; 3 Knowing [this], that the trying of your faith worketh patience. 4 But let patience have [her] perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.” James 1:2-4 (KJV)
Hard times produce patience and increase faith in God.
I hope this encourages you today if you are facing a hard time and can help you shift your perspective. There is joy in the breaking because a reward is being produced and that is the blessing of growing closer to God.
