The verse of the month for October is

“Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.” Philippians 4:8 (King James Version)

Are you someone who easily gets lost in thought or do you struggle with certain thoughts? As Christians we should have pure thoughts but I know from personal experience that this is not always possible.

Today, we are constantly confronted with images and music and books that take our thoughts to the wrong direction. I struggle with this each day so I can relate to you if you do as well.

I believe that when believers walk in the Spirit we can win the flesh. In our flesh we will want to hold on to all of the wrong thoughts but if we walk in the Spirit we can fill our mind with the right thoughts.

I am challenging myself to renew my mind and start to think the right thoughts that will honor God. I believe that the best way to begin to do this is by memorizing scripture. This verse is the best place to start this journey. If you have followed my posts for a while you may remember that I posted this before. I wanted to update this post because I am still on this journey and actually had fallen off the path for a while.

I want to start over and you can as well. I want to memorize this verse and speak it to myself when the wrong thoughts begin to flood my mind. I believe that the word of God is powerful and it will stop the bad thoughts.

  • This world is constantly spewing lies, so I want to focus on the truth and that is found in the Bible
  • I want to have honest thoughts and not make up lies
  • I want to examine things in a just way
  • I want to have pure thoughts
  • I want my mind to be filled with beauty and peace

I hope that this verse will encourage you and that you will memorize it during this month along with me. Let me know in the comments below if you will take on this challenge. God bless you all.
