October is Blindness Awareness Month, so today I want to spotlight Bold Blind Beauty. This media advocacy platform was started by Stephanae McCoy to shine a spotlight on the blindness community. Bold Blind beauty is all about access, inclusion and representation.

The Bold Blind Beauty YouTube channel is the place to find diverse voices sharing unique stories on how vision impairment impacts each of their lives. On this channel you will also find advocacy and resources for people in the blind and visually impaired community.

You can further support this movement and mission by shopping at the Bold Blind Beauty shop. In the shop you will find various products including clothing items like hoodies and sweatshirts and hats along with other products such as mugs. The items have messages that empower the blind and visually impaired community.

My thoughts on Bold Blind Beauty

This post is not sponsored by Bold Blind Beauty in any way. I found out about this platform several years ago and Stephanae McCoy’s story really encouraged me. Those who are not new to this blog may know that I am visually impaired so I found I could relate a lot to her story.

One thing that stood out to me was a logo that was once on the site. The logo was of a woman in a stylish dress walking in a crowd while using a white cane. I have struggled with using a white cane so seeing this in such a positive way really encouraged me.

The platform has truly expanded since then and I am thankful that the message to empower the blind and visually impaired community is reaching more people. I hope that this platform continues to grow and has a worldwide reach.
